| Northwoods Strings is a grassroots effort to bring string instrument instruction to the students of the Hayward and Lac Courte Oreilles Reservation school districts. Beginning in the fall of 2004 with just 14 students, it has grown this year to involve 67 students including students from the Hayward Intermediate and Middle Schools, the Hayward Area Center for Independent Learning, the LCO Elementary School and the LCO Boys and Girls Club.
Northwoods Strings is a non-profit organization with the goal of not only teaching the skills necessary to play string instruments but also fostering intercultural cooperation and appreciation. |
